Floor Design for Marmoleum Click

This is a possible floor design for our Marmoluem Click kitchen floor. I've been drawing up dozens of patterns but wasn't particularly thrilled with most of them. We have 5 color samples & planed to combine 3 colors, but are even undecided on which 3. With a layout of the kitchen that isn't really rectangular complicating the flow, it's been a challenge. I've been collecting lots of mid century modern graphics to develop the kitchen design & was looking at a leftover piece of scrapbook paper and was inspired by it's print. As the click  tiles are 12" with square corners I couldn't exactly duplicate the rounded corners of the rectangles, but the basic idea is there. I ended up using 4 colors though. So far it's my favorite, but I may refine it even more.

Kitchen Hardware

These are the cabinet pulls I'm dreaming of for our Mid Century Modern Look Kitchen. They have a cool vintage, yet contemporary feel that will go well with the circle design we intend to create for the section we need to build up on our brick wall so it's the proper height for a bar. They can be found in the Richelieu catalouge.

Splurging on Stove for the Kitchen Renovation

Since my husbands other passion besides photography is cooking we plan to splurge on the new stove for our kitchen. We've chosen the 30" DCS RGU-305 Professional Gas stove. It features 5 sealed gas burners with continuous grates and a convection oven with telescopic racking system. It's going to be so nice to have a working oven again. The oven portion on our old gas stove died about a year ago & we've been baking in our microwave/convection oven for all that time. It's done a great job for us, but has really limited space, it will be great to have the new 4.6 cu. ft. oven.

Kitchen Renovation Project About to Begin

Kitchen Renovation Project About to Begin
Well we’ve signed the contracts and the kitchen renovation / house rewiring project will be starting soon.  It’s going to be quite a mess here for who knows how long. I have to clear all the art work off the walls, pack up all the small stuff & move all the furniture to the center of the rooms to access all the electrical outlets & switches for the rewire. Then after that, the demo of the kitchen will begin. We can’t wait to clear out those rotten old cabinets & the old floor. But I’m not looking forward to the hassle of peeling that disgusting wallpaper off the ceiling (what were my in-laws thinking when they put that up there?)

New Kitchen Cabinets

Bamboo Cabinets
Maple Slab Door
Our kitchen renovation we were planning last year had to be postponed because we couldn’t afford the additional cost to rewire the entire house that would be triggered by moving the fuse panel out of the kitchen. We now have the financing together and are back to the project.
The original bamboo cabinets I had found are no longer available, so I had priced some slab front maple cabinets that were available locally. Then a few weeks ago while searching microwave cabinet ideas, I came upon a new source for bamboo cabinets. I’m still waiting on the sample door and hoping it fits the bill because they carry more of the cabinet sizes I prefer for my layout.
