Kitchen Renovation Winding Down

We’re finally approaching a completed kitchen. We’ve been drilling the holes to put the hardware on the cabinets and get them hung, but it turned out that we didn’t get a few of the hinges that connect the two piece doors for the corner cabinets. They arrived yesterday, so we should be able to finish hanging and adjusting the doors this weekend. We still have the backsplash left to complete and to finish getting the bottle bottoms mounted in the bar.

Changing the Hardware

After almost a year of drooling over the Richelieu handles I had picked out for our cabinets, last week we happened upon a knob we like better. It's much more minimalist and quite contemporary, so this is the style we'll be ordering. It's made by Top Knobs and it's small, only uses one finger to pull.

Hilarious "How to" for installing hinges

When we renovate the kitchen we will be installing all new cabinets and one of the cabinets I was considering mentioned 'clip on' door hinges. I wasn't quite sure what that meant (apparently it's just a reference to the two sides of the hinge clipping together). Anyway while doing a search to find out, I came across this post on Garden Web describing how to install euro-hinges that just had me in stitches. I can just imagine every aspect of the kitchen renovation going this way. LOL.

Kitchen Hardware

These are the cabinet pulls I'm dreaming of for our Mid Century Modern Look Kitchen. They have a cool vintage, yet contemporary feel that will go well with the circle design we intend to create for the section we need to build up on our brick wall so it's the proper height for a bar. They can be found in the Richelieu catalouge.

New Uses For Hardware And Such

These necklaces are made using a variety of hardware. The turquoise one is made with metal washers, stacked buttons and painted metal scrapbook embellishments. The rectangular one has beads that are made from sliced pieces of pyrex pipettes from a medical lab. The three tier floral pendant is made from epoxy scrapbook stickers over metal washers. The coral color one is made from a C-clip that is some kind of auto part, semi-precious stones and buttons.
