I finally got around to making another recycled shirt & tie laptop case. I’d had the shirt & ties hanging around for a while, but I let other projects get in ahead of it. The wonderful Tommy Hilfiger shirt & 2 neckties were found in thrift stores. I also lined the bag with an upcycled sweatshirt. I was happy to find an Oleg Cassini button in my collection that matched perfectly for buttoning it closed. If it doesn’t get snatched up at the Odd Duck Bazaar this Saturday, then it will get listed on Etsy next week.

More Neckties and Bags – gifts cont.
The laptop bag was a b’day gift for my nephew, this time I upcycled a button down shirt and two neckties.

This purse was
my sister’s b’day gift, she requested a purse & sent me some pics of bags she liked. This was by far my most time consuming project
because I mixed so many small remnants (sorting thru my stash takes forever) & then I hand sewed the yarn borders and beads on & hand sewed fabric over a black plasticbuckle on the strap because the black was all I could find in a 2” buckle (recycled from an old camera bag).
And this cute little purse was a xmas gift for my best shopping girlfriend. I found the pin in a thrift store awhile back & bought it for her. I then needed to decide what to attach it to. At the last minute I came up with the idea of a small purse and threw it together that night. I may have to create a few more like this, but I only had the one pin.

Upcycled Laptop Bag
My husband needed a bag to carry his new laptop and he wanted a few pockets for the cord, mouse & other accessories. So I went through his closet and found an old pair of jeans with nice large pockets.

I picked out a quilted fabric piece for the inside lining and wanted the case to be padded, so he brought me some foam sheeting.
After sewing the lining I wrapped it in the foam sheets.
I used portions of the jeans legs to make handles and a closing strap. I also added a piece of fabric inside the fly to make it into a zipped pocket.

After all the layers were put together it was quite thick, so I had to choose another lightweight fabric scrap to make the binding around the top edge. Wasn’t sure my little sewing machine would handle it, with the pockets and such there were quite a few layers. He’s very pleased with the way it came out.
