A Batch of Flower Hair Clips for my Niece

Here are the hair clips and bobby pins I made for my niece for her birthday. She wears a lot of bright colors, so I made a broad range of designs. She also loves butterflies and I recently found the enamel shoe clips but thought they were a bit heavy for shoes, so I incorporated them into the flowers. I enjoy experimenting with different ways to create the petals, and I especially like the two buttons (one shell, the other rhinestone) that make the center of the yellow flower.

  1. These are adorable! My little girl is very into hair accessories at the moment, and these would be fun to create for her. How do you adhere the centers to ensure they don't pull loose (other than the buttons)? Sewing?

    Thanks:)

  2. Thanks Christina, they are sewn together. Some of them I just stack the petals on to of each other & stitch them together & then sew on the button. On others I just use a small circle of fabric about 1" around and start sewing the petals to it 1st & then attach the button. Afterwords I decide if I'm attaching a bobby pin, spring clip or even a ponytail holder. I sometime use a little glue on the threads after I attach the bobby pins, etc.
